International Certification Measurements, Inc. uses only state of the art equipment to support its surface plate calibration service. Our technically advanced Federal Computerized Digital Level System allows fast, error free calculations to be made and recorded. The Federal Electronic system has an accuracy of .1arc second (6µm) per foot as compared to precision spirit levels that have a high resolution profiling even where conditions of noise, vibration and temperature are factors. When the gage heads are set up for opposite response to common motion, the motion is ignored. Elimination of these errors is not possible with auto collimators or laser alignment tools.
Before starting the calibration procedure, our service technicians will thoroughly clean your plate; removing any grease, dirt or other foreign substances that may have accumulated. Calibration will be performed for overall flatness and repeatability. Using a Federal Digital Electronic Levels and Rahn Repeat-O-Meter insures accuracy in accordance with Federal Specifications GGG-463c Paragraph 4.5.5
For any granite plate found out-of-tolerance, our service technician will resurface the plate, using a day diamond lapping process. Steel surface plates found out-of-tolerance can be quoted for rescraping.
A precise three dimensional surface profile of the actual plate is generated by using a straight edge as a guide and moving the electronic levels along the edge. Readings are recorded at prescribed locations and down loading directly into the computer system utilizing a profiling program designed specifically for this type of application.
